Let me begin by saying that I love the countdown shows. Hell, I countdown the days until the countdown show. But taking the piss out of the UFC hype machine is good times. Read along and join the fun.

10 ) Bisping trying to convince us that he can knock people out. Listen, it’s not that we think you can’t. It’s that you don’t. It’s tough to put much into a punch when you’re tapping opponents in the face while running backwards like a kid who doesn’t want to be tagged back.

9 ) David Camarillo. Apparently Velasquez is “gonna push Nogueira to extremes that he’s never felt.” LOL!

8 ) Wand’s new face. The WTF is that I like it. Many people seem to think he looks like an alien now but I think he’s almost… handsome?

7 ) Bisping says “I don’t want to talk smack about a legend.” WTF? Looks like Hendo did knock some sense into The Count. Congrats on cutting your big boy teeth, Bisping!

6 ) It was cool to hear Nog giving play-by-play of his fight with Couture but, man, did they ever spend a lot of time talking about how OMG amazing that fight was. Perhaps trying to remind people that the UFC can still put on a good main event? A commercial within a commercial. Ah, UFC, you tickle me.

5 ) We are promised ad nauseum that the main event will be “very, very, exciting!” Is the UFC worried that people may expect – gasp – a grapple fest? Or worse yet, lay and pray? Paranoid, much? I haven’t heard a single person express such concerns.

4 ) WTF why are my two favourite heavyweights fighting each other? Ruggedly handsome Latin ground specialists. If you are still trying to get your girl into MMA, bring her to this event.

3 ) Dana says “Wanderlei’s still got a lot of fight left in him.” Well, you know what that means: If Wand loses, he’ll be cut. DW practically invented Bizzaro World Speak.

2 ) Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy hearing what Wand and Nog have to say, but 40 minutes spent on two match-ups? They didn’t mention a single other fight on the card. What, no pop for Bonnar who was in the best fight ever in the history of the world?

1 ) Bisping’s not-ready-for-prime-time coach is an arse, so why do I find him so amusing? Oh yeah… I’m an arse, too.

My latest video is here and it’s awesome! I know I always say that but it’s always true.
It seems there are not many obvious favourites this time around. Actually the only clear favourite according to the bookies is Joe Stevenson, and wouldn’t you know it? George Sotiropoulos is my UFC 110 upset pick.

Enjoy the fights, y’all!

The pay-per-view portion of UFC 109 will open with old dogs (Serra/Trigg) and close with older dogs (Couture/Coleman). Not surprisingly, the most interesting fights take place somewhere in between. It’s always a pleasure to see Nate Marquardt in action, and Miller vs Maia should be compelling, as well. And hey, at least it’s not UFC 108 amiright?
